Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need an in-home moving estimate?
Most moving companies can usually provide an estimate over the phone, but in some cases an in-home assessment is needed for accuracy.
You may need an in-home quote if any of the following apply:
Your home is 1,500 sq. ft. or larger
You have large or heavy items (such as pianos or safes)
There are tight hallways, stairways, or doorways
Parking a 26 ft. truck near your home may be difficult
You are moving out of state
What type of trucks do you use?
We operate 24–36 ft. box trucks and trailers equipped with professional moving pads, dollies, straps, toolkits, and all essential equipment to safely transport your belongings from start to finish.
How much can fit in a truck?
A 26-ft truck typically fits the contents of a home up to around 1,800–2,000 sq. ft., such as a smaller single-family home or well-packed 3–4 bedroom apartment.
A 36-ft truck is better suited for larger homes, generally 2,500–3,500+ sq. ft., or households with higher volume, specialty items, or heavier furnishings.
Every move is different, so truck size is always based on your specific inventory and layout rather than square footage alone.
How does The Organized Move claims process work?
While our teams take every precaution—including padding, wrapping, and careful handling—damage can occasionally occur.
If you notice any damage during or after your move, please contact us as soon as possible to begin the claims process. We’ll walk you through the next steps and work toward a resolution.
To help us move quickly, please have details ready such as the item’s make, model, or manufacturer when applicable.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we do require a deposit to secure your moving date. However, we understand that plans can change, so we offer flexibility with scheduling adjustments whenever possible. Your deposit is always applied toward your final balance at the completion of your move.
How much should I tip my movers?
Although our movers are trained to never ask or hint for tips from customers, they are allowed to accept tips should customers feel inclined for the hard work they received.
In terms of what to tip the movers, we encourage customers to tip whatever they feel is necessary for the job that was completed.
